Don't bow your head, unless it's in prayer. Remember that you are strong and beautiful. God has already given you what you need to get through this. Always know that you have been chosen by God and He knows that you have what it takes to make it through this. This will only make you stronger! Believe in it! Peace and Love little sister.

Shaquanda, battle those demons of racism by verbally calling on the name and blood of Jesus Christ to defeat them.

We are fighting in the Messiah's Name for you, and He has not forgotten you.

You are His very own daughter, He is protecting you.

Call on your angels that God has sent charge over us in the Name of His Son.

We are acting and we will not rest until justice is served.

IT'S NOT OVER!!!

Please know that GOD is watching over you! I pray that you stay strong in your days and do NOT give in to the devil's temptations. You are a strong BLACK young woman who will get over this set back. GOD puts us through many things, but he always leads us to victory! Do not worry, do not ponder...put it in his hands and he will deliver you out of this. I pray he keeps his angels over you.

Shaquanda,

Psalms 27 has always been my favorite passage in the Bible, & with your situation I am drawn to 4 verses:

1The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

6And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.

12Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

14Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

Sweetie, if you can just put all your faith in Jesus, I KNOW he will see you through this. It's often hard, in times like these, to keep praise in the forefront of your mind, but if you can be strong, he will do the rest. I don't know if you can listen to music or not, but I'd like to get you a copy of Shekinah Glory Ministries "Praise is What I Do..." which reminds us that no matter what the circumstance or current situation, NOTHING will stop our praise because ultimately we know that God is in control...& only HE has the last say so!!

God Bless,
Tennie

My Dear Little Sister Shaquanda,

You are a princess. Always hold your head high so as to not lose your crown. Only bow your head in prayer.

You have been chosen to carry a mighty burden. That burden is exposing racism and injustice. You can handle this as the beautiful, strong young woman that you are.

Prepare to tell your story when you are released. Because of your plight, many gather in prayer. All praises to God.

Use this opportunity to grow in God, Princess. Learn all that you can. We will not rest until you are physically free.

Peace, Love and Many Blessings.

Hello Shaquanda,

I just found out about your situation an hour ago. Someone emailed your story to me. I have long known how harsh Texas's justice system can be. Please know that I am praying and I will do the best I can to tell others. Also, if you don't mind, I would like to tell you and the visitors to your blog about my dear penpal Charles Nealy, www.anthonynealy.org, who is scheduled to be put to death in Texas this Tuesday, March 20th unless he is granted a miracle--a stay of execution. Charles has long claimed his innocence. I will now add you, your family, and the many, many others who are going through similar situations to my prayer list. Even at our lowest point (God knows I have had my depressing moments) we must remember others as well.

God bless you and may God be with you always.

Sincerely,
Valerie

Shaquanda,
I have been a public school teacher for almost 13 years. In all of that time, I have had very few instances that ended in physical aggression from my students. First let me say that I think you had no right to push a school employee. My experiences, both with working with school employees and being one, have shown me that most of us are underpaid for the loving job we perform on a daily basis. Of course, not knowing the employee or details of your interaction, I cannot say if the lady you pushed fits into this category. Having said that, I understand that you are a child and everyone makes mistakes. It sounds like you are a good person who made a bad decision. I will pray that your youth will not be taken from you and justice will be served. I believe you should be punished for what you have done. ( We ALL have to learn there are consequences!) However, 7 years in prison seems VERY extreme! Good luck in your fight!

Hi Shaquanda,

I found this group on Facebook about your story. I read the article and ended up writing to your governor. Even though you're in Texas and I'm in California, keep your head up honey. You got a shitty punishment which surely does not fit the crime. We're all pulling for you. Just know that people outside are pulling for you and trying to put pressure on those who can change the injustice against you.

Don't give up hope. I promise things will get better

Great website..good to see you are using a negative experience into a positive one.

A year in prison is too long for a child. And for pushing a person, it is unthinkable.

Life as pushed you into a corner for a decision you made in one split second. I understand adult not acting irresponsible. I work in the school system.

But maintaining one's cool is what I tell the students. Maintain.

Keep in prayer and mediation. Keep fighting the good fight. We are doing what we can to help you in this battle.

Peace be still

My personal opinion is our government has become so corrupt we should not follow the laws and judgments criminals are making or those with prejudice. We all need to pray angels help some help you literally be rescued from your captivity instead of going along with evil "orders".This is why "some" of those captured are "missing" from the system. We all should be uniting to save our children falsely taken from among us to have abusive things done to them.Learn Spanish if you can there.

This is an utter outrage...As a single dad raising 2 kids alone in washington dc, my fears extends far beyond a pushing/shoving event in a hallway...When we stop seeing our youth RANDOMLY KILLED; when we stop seeing MOMS KILLING THEIR KIDS AND BURYING THEIR BODIES BELOW; When we stop seeing FAMILIES SUFFER AT THE HAND OF A DICTATOR NAMED BUSH, SENDING OUR KIDS OFF TO DIE SENSELESSLY; when we stop HEARING OF OLD MEN KIDNAPPING CHILDREN, ONLY TO FIND THEIR BODIES RAPED AND MUTILATED...THEN and ONLY THEN can we spend precious energy and time on nonsense like what happened to you. I am DEFINATELY contacting the Governor, Judge and whoever else I can to change this. Hang in there, Baby! WE GOT YOUR BACK!!

Just know that you will be released from this sentence soon. You will be back with your family. Your voice will be heard and you will cry tears of rejoyce. My pledge is I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
I will contact the govenor and judge. This type of discrimination should not be tolerated. & years in prison for pushing is rediculous. The judge was having a bad day, and you was just there when the gavel came down.

Dear Little Sister Shaquanda,
I'm not sure if my first posting went up since I was setting up the blog. I'm older than you and since you are young, gifted and black, I have confidence in you and I know that God will see you through. Just like Paul when God freed him from prison. First Paul was free in his spirit because of his faith in God. You too are free! Nothing can take away your freedom. Be still and know that God is preparing you for a mighty work. You will emerge a tremendous leader in your community. Please be patient and don't harm yourself in any way. You must be ready to answer the call. The walls will fall and the doors of the prison will fling open. Then is when you will really need the Lord! Prepare now, read, write, pray, sing, read the bible especially and be clothed in the breastplate of righteousness. It is in your weakness that God is strong. You made a tiny mistake, and greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. Have faith and trust in the Lord with all your heart.
God bless you and is blessing you right now, preparing you for your beautiful future perhaps as a lawyer, perhaps simply as a mother and surely as a courageous young women. My love to you.

I have 5 children and my oldest is close to your age so I'm really hurt that this kind of justice is even allowed. I will pray for you and your family little sis.

This is ridiculous, and you know that. You know you shouldn't be in there. You know they are wrong. You know no one should be able to put a 14 year old in prison for anything like this. Do not forget this.

Praying for you! I just read the story today; your case is an embarrassment to the United States, the city of Paris, TX needs to be destroyed.

Stay strong!

Take it one day at a time, and don't be afraid of what's ahead of you! If anything, you are a brave, courageous martyr for civil rights, so stay strong for the rest of the people that face injustice!

I'll pray for you. Praise be to Allah (PBUH).

Shaquanda,
Your struggle is not in vain…
A child shall lead them!

The crime and injustice committed against YOU and other Black children across America by the racist, barbaric, decaying system in which we exist, is awaking the consciousness of millions of people across America and the world.

As we come into that awareness, we realize that you are being held captive because our racist, bankrupt ruling elites are in a futile battle to keep us, Blacks and all working Americans, in an enduring condition of captivity, ignorance and division, to prop-up their declining-dieing, racist social, economic and political order.

A colleague wrote us, recently, on the spate and pattern of injustice being consistently committed against us:

“With this kind of continuing intimidation, can fascism be far away? Why are folks so indifferent, so asleep at the wheel?”

Take strength. We are being awakened by you, SHAQUANDA, to the fascism that is part and parcel of what we call our civilization!

Children like you in “Apart-Hate” South Africa, helped to drive the final stake into that racist, decadent vampire state’s heart.

Although your ignorant captors may not be aware, you are doing the same here!

Stay strong, people of consciousness are coming to your rescue.

Your will and strength inspire us all.

Lloyd McCarthy

As a former police officer, I believe what happened to you is wrong. I also believe you should not have shoved or grabbed that hall monitor, but the injustice being done to you is orders of magnitude greater.

I am saddened that our society still has not removed a clearly racially biased judge from our legal system. We all bear the stain of injustice, wherever it is found.

Be strong, and love yourself enough to things that are good for you.

This is starting to hit major websites (www.somethingawful.com) and I sincerely hope that the media pressure can change what's happening to you.

This level of stupidity, malice, and bigotry on the part of the 'justice' system is just amazing.

I don't believe in God, but that's just myself, and I do respect people's faith. This had to be said first, because I won't be able to give you genuine prayers this way.
I'm deeply saddened (and everyone else I told this very story), as a black person myself, to hear of something like that. With all due respect to the legal system in the U.S., specifically Texas, (I'm from Germany, Europe myself) but this is a complete farce. It is shocking, it is racist, it is disgusting. Why do people get away with this? What's wrong with them, really?
As I mentioned before alright, you won't get any prayers or such from me, but what you will get is my utmost respect because of your incredible will and strength, and my support, even though it is limited to this probably.

Keep your head up high, they cannot do this.

Dear little Shaquanda,

I'm a mother of five teenagers (including three girls) living in Hawai`i, and I would like to send you a message of aloha and hope. What has happened to you is simply a disgrace. As a mother, it hurts my heart and offends me very deeply. As a citizen, I am outraged. As a Caucasian, I am ashamed.

You mention the 14-year-old Caucasian arsonist who was sentenced to probation. I don't even think you need to provide that example for comparison. All on its own, without being compared to ANYTHING, your sentence was simply WRONG. If any of MY teenagers had committed the same offense, they would never, ever have received the same sentence. What you did was not right, and I am sure you know that now, but you got a raw deal. I am guessing that a lot of people in the world are going to try to help you. Though I am far away, I would like to help, too. I just sent a message to Governor Perry, imploring him to investigate your case and release you from prison.

Please do not grow up thinking that all Caucasians are bad and racist. I promise you that there are some good ones in the world, people who are colorblind, who believe that there's room in the box of crayons for ALL the colors in the rainbow.

I hope you will try to read as much as you can, during this time; I hope there is a decent library where you are. A good book will help you escape, if only for a little while, until you are able to leave that place forever. And finally, I hope you never have to wear orange again... unless you choose to do so.

Love and aloha from Caroline in Hawai`i, and daughters Chelsea (18), Emily (17), and Jessica (16)

I'm in shock right now. Is there no end to the blatant racism and disproportionate "justice" that my people deal with on a daily basis. It's time that we as a people let the system know that we will not tolerate this any longer. Forget marches, we need a unified movement that forces the racists to give us equal rights. The civil rights movement isn't over just because they've killed our most effective leaders. We all need to be leaders and be willing to spill blood for the rights or our people. Obviously turning the other cheek isn't getting the point across.

God is good all the time. Believe that! This is not about you; it is about your testimony. God has chosen you as the vessel to carry the message of injustice that is taking place in Paris, Texas. We are a strong people and your victory will be known all over the world. In turn through your testimony, you will be able to help others. You may ask why you. The answer is why not you.God didn't make a mistake when he chose you and kwow that He will never leave you. Don’t let the devil steal your life through sucide. You have too much to do or say. You are the light for many to come, if you leave this earth, your destiny will be unfulfilled.

Stay strong and prayerful and you will come through the fire on the other side, the victor. The coward who sentenced you and is trying to steal your youth doesn’t realize he has only elevated you to your glory and your destiny.

We are all helping to tell your story, but only you will be able to give your testimony.

Shaquanda & Family:

This story came to me while I was at work, so the word is getting around. My prayers go out to you and your family. Being someone that has had more than my fair share of run-ins with the Texas legal system, I can understand. Stay focused on the Lord, for he will see you through. In the midst of a storm, which this is, he will NEVER leave you nor forsake you. NEVER !!! And that is good news. The Lord is there with you. Call on him, OUT LOUD !!! Really, when you feel that your burden is to heavy, lay it in his lap and take hold to his hand, for he will see you through. There is POWER in the name of the LORD !! You are God's child and he is the KING of KINGS, so that makes you a princess. So you hold your head up high, because no weapon formed against you shall prosper. God gives you joy, that no one can take away. He gives you peace that no one can understand. Daily, DAILY tell Satan that he is a LIE !! Those walls my hold you physically, but don't give Satan the satisfaction of keeping your spirit bottled up like that, don't give that cruel judge the satisfaction of knowing that he can steal your love. Inspite of ... we are commanded by God to love and forgive. So in your heart, really ask God to help you forgive him and love him as God would have you to do. I could go on all day about the goodness and mercy of the Lord. Last but not least, remember that they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not get tired; they shall walk and not faint. (Isa 40:31) So baby girl, get ready, GET READY, God is coming for you. YES !!! You will fly up out of there leaving that agony and pain behind. Your tomorrow is coming, wait patiently on the LORD your God, and he will NEVER let you down.
May God continue to BLESS you and your family !!!
Mrs. E. Casey (Austin, TX)

i am very disturbed at the story i read in this link http://www.ybpguide.com/2007/03/13/paris-texas-in-plain-view/

i think that is wrong this is 2007. i was in the army for 7 years we war for what is right and to go to other countries and kill them when we cant control the things like SLAVERY that is going on in our country. Like feeding the homeless overseas is a good deed, but take care of home AS WELL. This little girl is 14 years old, and 7 years for shoving but this same judge charged a killer and an arsonist probation PROBATION!!!! It is seriously something wrong with this. i dont know these people from Adam but i support them and im going to tell everyone and send an email and post bulletins until you realize what is going on in this small Racist town, what if the tables were turned and whites were treated this way. Think about your sons and daughters. What would jesus do? Keep in mind he's watching and we all will be judged for our actions soon!

Hi Shaquanda, this is a very wicked world in which we live. But do know that God sees it all and this Judge will meet all of his actions in the Judgment. What you need to focus on now is getting a right relationship with God so that He can bless you and bring you out. Nothing else matters at this point. If it is God's will for you to get out, then it will come to pass. This is a test for you, because He never lets anything happen that we can't handle. Get to know Him as your personal friend and obey all the He requires and miracles will happen, this He promised. God will take care of that unjust Judge in ways that only He can. Be encouraged and know that even through the storm, God loves you and always will. In the mean time, much prayers will be going up in your behalf. Hang in there and be strong for Jesus.

To the anonymous who said to forget God and Prayer, you are misled and need to know that it is God who will even give you the ability to hold that pen. The last thing this situation needs is for us to forget where we came from! If you start leaving out God in the equation, you will have sure failure. This IS a job for God, whether we like it or not. Going to God first is the proper action; He will lead us then.

Let us get you out of this and then you stand up for equality and FAIR justice for all. Do me a favor, put your arms around yourself and squeeze--go ahead it's ok. It's just a hug from me.

Never give up, Never surrender. They may imprison your body but never your mind or your spirit. You should know by all the comments here and other places that you have become a daughter to all of us. Your extended family loves and supports you 150%. I know I would not let this happen to my daughter, and somehow, someway, we are going to make this right for you.

The people who thought this would end your life do not realize that they have really opened doors for you. You just have to hold on until you can get through them. Please believe me and trust that you will be just fine. Rise above your situation and show them how a true Princess can never be broken.

To Shaquanda and her family,
I read this story tonight and I am extremely outraged at what is happening to this child. I am going to post this story on MySpace and I am going to write to the Governor, the Texas comptroller, Senator for your district, ombudsman if your state has one, and any other officials your state may have.

Those people should be ashamed of themselves. You hang in there Shaquanda, you are a beautiful child and your spirit can't be broken if you don't let them.

Have faith, I'll try my hardest to help.

I'll write to you too snail mail.
Hugs, Jennifer in Iowa.

I will write any and everyone I need to until you are free, I will make sure that everyone I know will write a letter to the government and that Judge. I am so sorry this happened to you. This should remind all of us that racism does STILL exist.

Being a lesbian, I know how it feels to be discriminated against; but this is ridiculous. I am so sorry that society has not gotten its head out of its butt even now in 2007. Stay strong, and when you get out you can make the statement the world needs to hear. Believe in God, pray for justice, and all will be resolved. i will pray for you girl.
God Bless You.

Stay strong in your faith, Shaquanda. The public knows about this travesty of justice. Everyone is talking about your situation and lots of people are writing on your behalf. No child deserves to go to prison for what, while you shouldn't have done that, most of us have done ourselves when we were young. We are behind you, child. And 'we' are people of all races and persuasions. Look up! And God bless you.

Dearest Shaquanda,

Stories like yours are more abundant then we would like to believe; that is why it is so important to speak up, stand proud and fight until the end.

Law seldom breeds justice, and it is up to all of us to rise and state loud and clear it is jutice we want!

Hold on baby girl,
Big hug, tons of luv,

Hey sis. My heart seriously goes out to you and your family. This is by far one of the DUMBEST things that I have ever heard. I knew that Texas had its own set of issues to deal with, but this is crazy. keep your head up and know that God is ALWAYS there for you. There is absoluly NOTHING that is too hard for him to solve, and trust me, you are going to come out of this soon. The bible says something that is really wonderful to individuals that go through storms. It says "We been may indure for a night, but JOY comes in the morning light". Lil sis, your morning light is coming soon, and I will be where ever I am leaping for joy just for you when that time comes.

God Bless you and your family at this time.

My God bless you and keep you safe in there. God can take an awful situation and use it for overall good. I pray that he will place a hedge of protection around you like Ft. Knox. That you will get caught up in the "F.O.G." (favor of God)while in there! That people will come from all directions with the desire to do for you and take care of you and even they can't even understand why! I pray that he gives you a peace that surpasses all understanding to get you thru this. I pray for comfort for your family and that this will be the catylist for a great change in Texas for the better of all minorities. AMEN!

Dear Shaquanda,

I will spread the word about this story to everyone I know, and everyone I can. What has happened to you is outrageous! You will be freed!

This is one of the most saddening story's I have heard in a very long time... you are on a lot of minds and in a lot of hearts.

Keep your faith as strong as possible and know that what you deserve will have to come to pass. And what you are going through now is not what you deserve. So while there is still a girl free that is buring down houses, and a man free that KILLED a family, please know that people are doing everything they can to make sure the ONE AND ONLY one that should be free, will be free'd.

You are young and you need to live your life just like every other 14 year old. Dont let nobody put you down no matter what. Stay focused because you will be out of there and I will write any kind of letters I can that can help you and I will tell everyone that I know to do the same. The Texas system is crooked and racist is all over that place because I have witnessed it for myself and im glad I dont live there personally. Keep ya head up and dont give up...somebody out there wants to do the right thing and the right thing is to get you Shaquanda out of there. Im going to keep you in my prayers.

There was hope for Tyrone Brown and there will be some for you.

You'll emerge a stronger person when this is over. I hope that the attention your situation has finally received will warrant some smarter, less racist people reviewing your case.
Best wishes from New Zealand.

What, what, what, this just seems so messed up! I'm from Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada and CAN NOT beleive anyone would stand for this. You will be in my prayers little one! Stay strong, PLEASE, stay strong! We need not just your nation, but our continent of North America to really look at situations like this and shake our heads. Ridiculous! I'm going to make sure I spread the word to everyone I can, in this day and age we have to fight against travesties of justice such as this and the Sean Bell shooting. In the words of one who could have a been great leader, 2Pac Shakur.... Keep Your Head Up!
